What to do & see in Costa del Sol
During a weekly or monthly stay in Costa del Sol, you have time to explore a bit more of Andalucía (southern Spain). If you wish to do so, we recommend you hire a car and start driving.
The great thing about Andalucía is that most cities are only a short drive away, and each with own unique heritage and history to explore.
Cities like Sevilla, famous for its tapas culture, Granada, for it’s Islamic fortress beauty ‘La Alhambra’, Jerez, that delicious sherry wine…
Even if you want to stay close to Costa del Sol, in Málaga province, there are plenty of white villages that are only a short drive away. These white villages, with whitewashed walls, red tiled roofs, cobblestone streets and ornate churches atop cliffs are rich in history. They date back to the Romans and Moors, offer spectacular flora & fauna, historical walking routes and are havens for birds watchers & wildlife lovers.
You cannot leave the Costa del Sol or Andalucía without eating tapas. Tapas are small dishes shared amongst a group of people, usually accompanied with a beer or glass of local Spanish wine in hand.
If you get the chance, we suggest you visit Málaga, Costa del Sol’s centre and capital — with a buzzing arts scene, multiple museums, which include Picasso’s childhood home and great tapas and wine bars.
For your party animals, Costa del Sol offers a large selection of bars and clubs along the coast — from Nerja to Fuengirola, especially around world famous Marbella’s Puerto Banús… ranging from the fun and easygoing, to the chic and sophisticated.
For those who are not so familiar with the Costa del Sol, here’s a map that has Torreblanca marked with a big red pin and all other coastal hot spots (mentionned in this post) marked with golden stars. Click the map to take you to live Google Maps, where you can plan your trip from wherever you are.
